Charles Papon demonstrates a custom dual-core VexRiscv SoC running Linux, Doom, and OpenTTD on an Arty A7 FPGA development kit.
Custom SoC deployed on a ArtyA7 35T dev kit : - VexRiscv dual core @100Mhz RV32IMAFDC - 8KB i$, 8KB d$, 4 itlb, 4 dtlb per core - Shared 64bits FPU - DDR3 16 bits @666 MT/s - VGA 1024x768 - USB host x4 12 Mbps (mouse, keyboard, usb drive, usb audio) - Ethernet 100 Mbps Running OpenSBI, UBoot, Linux, Buildroot with a few app : - X11, wmaker - Doom, OpenTTD, mpg123 - xterm, leafpad, pcmanfm - dillo, feh - xscreensaver Based on github.com/SpinalHDL/SaxonSoc/tree/dev-0.3/bsp/digilent/Arty… Linux, Buildroot and the applications are the the USB drive. The FPGA (Artix 7 35T) is very full (93% lut usage XD) Note, chocolate-doom was patched to skip the X11 layer and directly draw in /dev/fb0What people say. Recommended as a cool demonstration of running a desktop-capable Linux image on a VexRiscv soft core.
