Tristan Gingold presents the generic cores and tools developed by CERN's control group, including hdlmake and Cheby.

Presented at the 1st FPGA Developers' Forum Meeting: cern.ch/fdf24 Register to our newsletter at cern.ch/fdf-news Sign-up in our forum at cern.ch/fdf Link to Slides: indico.cern.ch/event/1381060/contributions/5923211/ The CERN control group (in particular the BE-CEM-EDL section, previously BE-CO-HT) is at the origin of the White Rabbit technology. But in addition to this well known project, the section has also developed a set of generic cores (named general-cores), a tool to automatically build project for simulators and synthesizers starting from a python description (hdlmake), as well as a tool to generate HDL, header files and documentation from a register map (Cheby). I will present how we develop designs using those tools and library.

What people say. Recommended as a valuable overview of CERN's open-source FPGA tools and libraries.

On “CERN data processing”

CERN do a bunch of FPGA stuff, and are quite open about sharing it to the community too. They recently started a FPGA Developers Forum , but had free webcast attendance and put all videos on YouTube. Videos\Projects you might find interesting: Colibri - Common Cores Library HDL on Git More common cores and tools at cern Definitely take a look at their GitLab too, filter by VHDL or Verilog stuff.
