Grant Kot demonstrates a combination of Radiance Cascades with an iterative light solver running in WebGL2 and WebAssembly.

A combination of Radiance Cascades with my iterative light solver (WebGL2 & WASM running in the browser). I recommend SimonDev's video if you want to learn about RC: youtube.com/watch?v=3so7xdZHKxw Here's an old demo of my multigrid lighting from 15 years ago: youtube.com/watch?v=BIQRhOFkvQY At the time I could only do a single direction and radial lighting which had no strong directionality to the shadows. The radiance cascades directional tile layout inspired me to adopt my iterative method and I had a fun idea to reroute sampling to different tiles to simulate bending light. The refraction may look complex but actually simulating was not. Many effects emerged for free. This will be added to my site in the future for now I have some simpler demos that can maybe help pass the time: grantkot.com/

What people say. Recommended as an impressive real-time demonstration of Radiance Cascades combined with refraction.

Do we want to speak about that? "So, I’m mostly a Blender guy... I wrote a basic rasterizer once and know the bare minimum about GPU programming. I followed 'Ray Tracing in a Weekend' and the 'GPU Gems' fluid articles a while ago, and I poke around ShaderToy code from time to time (usually struggling to understand most of it). I watch a lot of YouTube on real-time graphics, too. I find this whole 'making math do beautiful things' world immensely fascinating, but my actual math knowledge is super shallow. I just got suggested this (to me) crazy video. Can someone dumb it down for me? I understand basically nothing! The fluid part... okay, I guess? I’ve seen things move like that before. It’…
