James Hoe and Derek Chiou discuss the role of FPGAs in system architecture, infrastructure hardware, and cloud deployments.
I am happy to host two prominent architects, James Hoe and Derek Chiou, who greatly shaped the landscape for FPGAs in building systems. James Hoe is a Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. His group has been at the forefront of pushing the boundary of FPGAs. He devoted his research in building programming models and easy to use frameworks to aid the use of FPGAs. users.ece.cmu.edu/~jhoe/doku/doku.php Derek Chiou is a Partner Architect at Microsoft responsible for infrastructure hardware architecture and future uses of FPGAs. He was a Professor at UT Austin before that. He co-started the Azure SmartNIC effort and lead the Bing FPGA team to the first deployment of Bing ranking on FPGAs. users.ece.utexas.edu/~derek/ Related Links: CoRAM: An in-fabric memory architecture for FPGA-based computing.
