Ramesh Raskar demonstrates femto-photography, an imaging technique that captures light in motion at one trillion frames per second.

ted.com Ramesh Raskar presents femto-photography, a new type of imaging so fast it visualizes the world one trillion frames per second, so detailed it shows light itself in motion. This technology may someday be used to build cameras that can look "around" corners or see inside the body without X-rays. TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at ted.com/translate If you have questions or comments about this or other TED videos, please go to support.ted.com

Indeed! You should see time flowing backwards in this YouTube video at this timecode: link to this video Seriously, watch it. Very cool.

Not sure why exactly this is news. Ramesh Raskar, the head of the MIT team doing the project did a TED talk on it 2 years ago : link to this video

The team behind the video of the coke bottle has a TED talk that explains it in detail: link to this video Edit: oops I misread your comment

There was a similar technique discussed in a Ted Talk using femto-photography, which had an animation showing how it was done for an ELI50. The talk contains references future technology to see around corners. This article may have been inspired by the talk, but it certainly makes it much more available for the rest of us. 0: link to this video
