CodeParade introduces the development of a four-dimensional golf game, explaining how to visualize and render 3D slices of a 4D world.

This is the first of a new Devlog series about the development of my untitled 4D game. More details to come in the next video. Hyperbolica is now on the Oculus/Meta Quest Store! What people say. Recommended as a fascinating demonstration of rendering and visualizing four-dimensional space in a video game.

On “How would a renderer be different if you wanted to render a 4D object?”

Not sure exactly what you're hoping for. Most visualizations of 4D I've seen have been done through rending 3D slices of a 4D world like \CodeParade's 4D golf\([video or \MashPoe's 4D miner\([video 4D golf cleverly shows some semi-transparent hinting of what lies further along the 4th dimension. Unfortunately as far as I understand, since our eyes are 2D and "flat" things in 4D are 3D there's really no way for us to "see" 4D the way a 4D creature would. It's just a limit to human perception. The best we can do is find better and better ways of conceptualize and visualizing 4D space in 3D rendered to 2D. Maybe someone better at geometry could tell you something else, but I went on…
