A demonstration of a playable Space Invaders game built entirely within Dwarf Fortress using the game's mechanics as a computing substrate.

I have built a playable space invaders inside dwarf fortress. You can see the map here mkv25.net/dfma/map-12634-armokinvaders and download to play here dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=11730

What people say. Recommended as an impressive example of building complex computing systems and games inside Dwarf Fortress.

My favorite is still the Dwarven Calculator: link Though I see he has a new project (Armok Invaders) that looks pretty awesome. link to this video

On “Cities: Skylines Is Turing Complete”

Dwarfputers are a wonderful tangent of their own, with a not-unlikely possibility of flooding your entire computer with firey death in the form of magma in some of the more impressive approaches - this has been possible (but quite difficult) for some time, more recent game versions have made non-fluid based logic gates1 more realistic and usable. Someone has built an (admittedly simple) space-invaders game2 using df which is rather impressive. 1. link 2. link to this video

On “Space Invaders”

And of course Space Invaders was programmed inside of a Dwarf Fortress game. It’s simplified of course and not exactly real time lol. Wonder what it would take to emulate the full version inside of DF. link to this video
