How to install the Xilinx ISE Design Suite 14.7 and its cable drivers on Ubuntu 18.04.

For ISE installation: 1. Download the Linux installer tar file shown in the video. 2. Extract it using: sudo tar -xvf Xilinx_ISE_DS_Lin_14.7_1015_1.tar 3. Open terminal in the extract folder and run: sudo ./xsetup 4. Don't Change install location if possible and don't tick install cable driver option. We will do it by ourself. You will need 22GB free space in root. 5. Source the settings64.sh file by adding the following line in ~/.bashrc: source /opt/Xilinx/14.7/ISE_DS/settings64.sh and restart terminal. Use sudo nano ~/.bashrc and ctrl+o to save and ctrl+x to exit nano. 6. Now open ISE and install the license. For driver installation: 1. Run the following commands: sudo /opt/Xilinx/14.7/ISE_DS/ISE/bin/lin64/install_script/install_drivers/./install_drivers (This will give error code 1. Don't worry about it.) cd /opt/Xilinx/14.7/ISE_DS/ISE/bin/lin64/digilent/ sudo ./install_digilent.sh sudo apt-get install gitk git-gui libusb-dev build-essential libc6-dev-i386 fxload libftdi-dev cd /opt/Xilinx/14.7 sudo git clone git://git.zerfleddert.de/usb-driver cd usb-driver sudo make (Use make for both 32-bit and 64-bit) ./setup_pcusb /opt/Xilinx/14.7/ISE_DS/ISE/ For making IMPACT work (To solve WARNING:iMPACT - Module windrvr6 is not loaded.): 1. Run the following command: export LD_PRELOAD=/opt/Xilinx/14.7/usb-driver/libusb-driver.so or add this command in ~/.bashrc. This is known to cause issues with Xilinx SDK, so open xsdk from different terminal window in which LD_PRELOAD isn't exported (you will need to comment this line, if added in ~/.bashrc for Xilinx SDK). You can also make a script which does this for you. ;) For making ChipScope Pro Analyszer and Core Inserter work: 1. cd /opt/Xilinx/14.7/ISE_DS/ISE/bin/lin64/unwrapped 2. sudo nano analyzer 3. In the first line change #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash 4. Ctrl+o and then ctrl+k to save and exit. 5. Do the same for inserter file in the present same location. (sudo nano inserter) 5. LD_PRELOAD mentioned for impact is also needed by ChipScope Pro Analyzer. After this chipscope should work but just typing analyzer in terminal. For making System Generator work(Matlab needs to be installed): 1. cd /opt/Xilinx/14.7/ISE_DS/ISE/sysgen/util 2. sudo nano sysgen 3. In the first line again change #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash then save and exit. Credits: github.com/casper-astro/mlib_devel/wiki/How-to-install-Xilin…

…5900098be8ae4b12739a2fd2c53363b94 EDIT - here is the solution: Just wanted to put some light how the story end-up! Just managed to bring-up Kintex-7 running with ISE 14.7 as u/bunky\_bunk mentioned! Of course you need a license but I think everyone can find it by itself. Here are the important steps from the video of this guy, happy hacking ;) [video…

Compiling/programming software besides Xilinx ISE? I have been trying to install ISE suite/webpack on an Ubuntu virtual machine on my Mac for 3 days now. I have searched in hell heaven and high earth for some way to do it but it just... won't install. I can't even extract the .tar file in terminal; I am giving up on this god-forsaken software. So, any other ideas? I am thinking of trying the ISE path one more time but on a Windows VM, but besides that, I think I need an entirely different software. Any advice appreciated. Edit: I got it to work guys! [video Props to that God youtuber\^
