On “Whistleblower Binney says the NSA has dossiers on nearly every US citizen”

I live in the Southern Hemisphere and like most 40 something year olds I follow whats happening in the States from a distance. I've been reading and watching a fair bit of Jacob Appelbaum and reading Glenn Greenwald's posts which seem to be fair and well written. Democracy Now also does some interesting interviews with Jacob and William Binney. Some stuff I recommend to have a look at... in no particular order. On “Poll: Do you encrypt your email?”

You might find it interesting/useful to read about: steganography1, anonymous remailers2 (particularly the Mixminion3 type), the Paranoid Security Guide4 (which was on HN today5), and a nice talk on privacy and anonymity options67 There were also a couple of lists of darknets on HN recently, but I can't find them right now. 1 - link 2 - link 3 - link 4 - link 5 - link 6 - Part 1 - link 7 - Part 2 - link to this video

On “I Had My Electronics Seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection”

Worth listening to Jake Appelbaum's 'digital anti repression workshop' 1. In this he explains why he takes the hard-drive out of his laptop and just uses a TailsOS thumb-drive for his computing. It would be actually hilarious when staff ask to peruse the contents of your computer for contraband, only to discover the laptop doesn't have a hard-drive. 1: part 1 link #: part 2 link to this video
