Ben Eater completes his breadboard VGA video card by explaining analog RGB signals, using an EEPROM for image storage, and building a DAC.

For part 1, see this video: youtube.com/watch?v=l7rce6IQDWs Let's build a circuit that displays an image on a VGA monitor! In part 2, I talk about how VGA uses analog RGB signals to send different color pixels to the monitor. I use an EEPROM to store an image and build a simple digital-to-analog converter to generate the color signals to successfully display an image. What people say. Highly recommended as an exceptionally clear, step-by-step explanation of how VGA video hardware works at the electrical level.

On “Brown: color is weird [video]”

Not the same thing, but you reminded me of this since it's in a similar vein. Ben Eater went through the entire process of building a VGA "video card." Anyone with a basic understanding of logic circuits has enough background to understand it. Worth a watch. Part 1: link Part 2: link to this video

On “NandGame – Build a Computer from Scratch”

If you're a visual learner, check out Ben Eater's channel: link He has a really great video series where he builds a small computer from scratch on breadboards. Also some other highlights: Reliable data transmission, more educational: link DIY VGA "video card": link to this video Super educational, but if you want to get into more embedded hardware hacking, I would say that building a homemade computer like he does is probably not a super exciting place to start. I'd recommend picking up some Teensy 4.0 microcontrollers and build some small hardware projects with the microcontroller before diving into lower-level circuitry.

On “Let's Build a Video Card”

At 3:00 into the second video, he talks about hooking it into a computer. 1 It does a quick flash to what might be his breadboard computer. So I think he intends to connect this to the computer he has built. 1. link to this video

On “Please somone help me , this is driving me crazy !”

Great answers written by others, just wanted to share a video that was on my recommendation list thia morning. This video is about a guy building a GPU using a breadboard and throughout the process he explains every step he takes: link to this video (part 1), link to this video (Part 2).
