Filip Hráček demonstrates how to identify and fix common performance issues and rendering bottlenecks in a Flutter application.

Flutter is fast by default, but that doesn't mean you as a developer are off the hook. In this Flutter Europe talk, Filip walks the audience through an app with many performance issues, and tries to address all of them. On “Flutter team really need to fix on poor scrolling performance”

We have a number of tools for this, e.g.: link to this video https://flutter.dev/docs/perf/rendering/ui-performance https://flutter.dev/docs/perf/rendering/best-practices

[video is a good video from Flutter Europe on performance optimization and reducing jank.

On “Flutter’s extreme jank issue on iOS finally got more attention”

We can't compile the shaders ahead of time because there's literally millions or billions of potential shaders (they are generated dynamically by Skia; that's one of the ways Skia gets its performance: by creating bespoke shaders for particular scenes), and they have to be compiled differently for each GPU (more of a problem on Android than iOS, but still), and we have no way to know exactly which ones a particular app will need without running every possible permutation of the app's UI. Shader warm-up is a way to help Flutter get the right shaders compiled on first startup. It requires some investment from app developers, though. The issue mentioned by the OP is just that on iOS with Meta…
