A few questions about graphics programming.
Hello. I had a few questions regarding graphics programming. I've only ever made games in Unity but I started to try out OpenGL using The Cherno's OpenGL tutorial series.
1. In the OpenGL tutorial series, he mentioned that OpenGL is not something you download, but mostly an API to talk to your GPU to tell it to render stuff on the screen. So I assume DirectX, Vulkan, and Metal are the same. My question is, if it my GPU already understands DirectX, why can't we use it on another platform like Windows. In other words, why is it OS-dependent? Even if the graphics card is the same?
2. Raytracing. I haven't gotten to that level but I don't quit…

On “c++ beginner”
The Cherno's YT series gives you a really solid foundation, and from there I think his game engine or openGL series is a great way of specializing.

good luck!

On “any recommendation for youtube channel/online learning platform class for C programming?”
The Cherno he did a very complete c++ series that starts with begginner topics and then more advanced topics. He explains pretty well with examples, this is definitely somethin you need to check out.
He also did a 3d rendering series with OpenGL that explains 3d rendering very well as well as shaders, programs running on the GPU.
Finally, he did a huge serie ls where he builds a game engine (more than 100 videos) and he still continues its development today and it even is one of his main activities. This project shows you how to make a git repo, and setup a cpp project with the client/server system.
Good Luck for learning C++ !
If you have any question, you can ask them in r/cppques…
